Show Notes Who This Episode Is For This episode is for you if you want to create a morning routine but struggle with taking action, discipline, or social pressure. Three common obstacles to creating a morning routine are lack of clarity, lack of discipline, and lack of a system. The Five Keys to Design Your Own Morning Routine #1 Define the Goals of Your Morning Routine This is the most important step! Clearly define what you want to achieve with your routine. Knowing your goals will help you stay motivated. #2 Figure Out What Works for You There is no one-size-fits-all routine. Explore different routines and find what works best for you. Consider incorporating proven activities, personal tricks, mandatory tasks, desired but procrastinated activities, and positive reinforcements. Think about the environment you need to succeed, such as a quiet space or having breakfast prepared beforehand. #3 Design Your Morning Routine and Put It on Paper Beforehand Take time to design your routine in advance. The more prepared you are, the more likely you are to stick to it. Here’s a four-step process for designing your routine:Brainstorm a sequence of actions. Calculate the total time for your routine. Calculate your wake-up time based on your desired start time and routine length. Review and adjust your routine as needed. #4 Treat This as an Experiment Approach your routine with an experimental mindset. You will learn what works and what doesn’t as you go. Track your progress to see if your routine is effective. #5 If You Don’t Succeed on the First Try, Relax and Try Again Creating a new habit takes time and practice. Don’t get discouraged if you backslide. Just pick yourself up and try again. With consistent effort, your routine will become second nature.
